vSphere : what is it ?

What are the different tools in the vSphere suite?

The vSphere platform brings together several distinct products and technologies that work together to provide a complete virtualization infrastructure. These products include the ESX / ESXi hypervisor, VMware vCenter Server, VMware vSphere Client, and VMware VMFS.

The ESXi hypervisor

The ESXi hypervisor is the heart of the vSphere. It is a Type 1 hypervisor that can be used to controle launched on a host computer to manage the execution of virtual machines. It also allows you to allocate resources to virtual machines according to their needs.

He’s available as an installable version, or as an integrated version. The installable version can be installed on the hard disk of the host computer, just like any operating system.
